About Grandview IP Screen
The Grandview IP Screen plugin controls Grandview motorised projection screens fitted with the IP (“IP Smart Screen”) control board. It gives Open, Close and Stop control of the screen from any Q-SYS design, along with live feedback of where the screen is and what it is doing.
The screen is controlled over its built-in HTTP interface — there’s no persistent connection to maintain. The plugin sends a short web request for each command and reads the screen’s state back on a polling period you set. Every movement command is followed by an automatic status read, so the position indicators update straight away rather than waiting for the next scheduled poll.
Requirements
- A Q-SYS Core running a supported firmware version
- A Grandview motorised screen with the IP control board, connected to the network and reachable from the Core
- The screen’s IP address — factory default is 192.168.1.2; set a static address on the screen’s own web page before commissioning
- HTTP access (port 80 by default) from the Core to the screen
Setup and Connection
Enter the screen’s address in IP Address and press Connect. The plugin makes an immediate status request and, if polling is enabled, starts the poll timer. Because the screen’s interface is stateless HTTP, Connect doesn’t open a socket — it simply starts the plugin talking to the screen. The IP Address field accepts a plain address (192.168.1.2) or an address and port (10.75.22.134:8080).
Screen Control and Status Polling
Open (Down), Stop and Close (Up) operate the screen directly. Status polling reads the screen’s state on a regular timer so the indicators stay current even when the screen is operated from its own remote or wall switch — a poll period of 5–10 seconds is a good default. Every command also triggers two automatic status reads of its own, so feedback appears almost immediately regardless of the poll period.
The Screen Status box gives a plain-language description of the screen’s state (Closed, Opening, Opened, Closing, Stopped) with matching status LEDs, plus a Moving indicator and a Last Response line showing the screen’s raw reply for commissioning.
Control Pins
Every control on the Setup page is available as a control pin, so the plugin can be wired to UCI buttons, logic, control scripts or other plugins. Pins are grouped by Connection, Polling and Screen, and can be enabled individually from the plugin’s Properties.
Licensing
This plugin is free. It needs no license key, has no trial period, and has no Locking ID or License section on the Setup page. It can be used on any number of Cores.
Troubleshooting
- Connection Status shows a fault — confirm the IP Address is correct and reachable from the same subnet as the Core, and check the screen’s own web page loads from a PC on the same network.
- Screen moves but indicators don’t change — make sure the plugin shows Connected; if Poll Enable is off, movement from the screen’s own remote won’t show until Poll Now is pressed.
- Screen stops responding after heavy use — this is almost always the motor’s thermal protection (around 3 minutes continuous run, ~30 minutes to cool). The plugin stays connected; only the motor itself pauses.
